"Ancient Beauty" Healing Grief through Creative Restoration
Just minutes walking from the Villa Amfiario is the ancient site of the first organized practices of Art Therapy in the Western world - a famous but rarely visited place where the ancient Greeks practiced restoration of the mind, heart, and spirit through creativity and the arts. This immersive workshop retreat draws upon this ancient wisdom to address grief in its many forms, and offers practices that help to naturally rebalance and re-orient participants to their sacred place in the world. Through exercises in playfulness, creative intuition, and meditative awareness, the week is a deep contemplation of the healing power of the arts, nature, and beauty in all forms of sensory inspiration. These 7-days will deepen all forms of creative practice and guide participants into their innate joy and playfulness as a sacred modality for processing and transforming grief. The 4-hour daily workshop includes lectures and discussion in topics of art history, art appreciation, practices in creative and journal writing and sketching, walking meditations, music appreciation and movement therapy, as well as techniques in food appreciation and re-connection with the natural world. Itinerary includes visits to the ancient archeological site and museum of Delphi; healing waters of Lake Vouliagmeni, and guided wine and food tastings. All meals prepared fresh by in-house private chefs; all diets accommodated. Open to ALL levels of art, writing, and creative experience, and all meditative practices suitable for beginners. Workshop led by Rissa Miller, art history and fine arts instructor, Montgomery College, MD, USA. Assisted by Marnee Wong, music and movement therapy instructor and grief counsellor.
